SANTE FE, NM, Sept. 24, 2019Pivot Energy, a national leader in comprehensive commercial and community solar services, has announced its plans to expand its operations into New Mexico. Pivot Energy’s expansion comes after New Mexico passed the Energy Transition Act (ETA) earlier this year, designed to accelerate the adoption of clean energy generation, with the goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045.

“We are thrilled to begin operations in New Mexico and begin working with the local contractors, landowners, and communities,” said Jon Sullivan, vice president of project development for Pivot Energy. “When New Mexico passed the Energy Transition Act, it signaled to the market that the state is serious about its clean energy future. Pivot is eager and dedicated to provide clean solar energy to New Mexico’s schools, businesses, and residents that will lower electricity costs, reduce carbon emissions, and help achieve the state’s clean energy goals.”

Pivot will initially offer its commercial solar energy services to K-12, higher education, industrial, retail, military, and government organizations across the state. Eventually, the company hopes to bring its community solar model to New Mexico, pending the state approves legislation that will enable the creation of a community solar program.

In early 2020, the New Mexico legislature will consider a bill that allows for the development of community solar to advance within the state. Currently, 20 states plus the District of Columbia have approved community solar legislation.

“By passing community solar legislation, New Mexico can unlock the full potential of a new energy economy,” Sullivan added. “We are confident that New Mexico will continue its clean energy progress this upcoming legislative session to fully access the economic and environmental benefits community solar can provide the state.”

Pivot Energy is currently the No. 1 community solar developer in Colorado. The company has completed dozens of solar projects across the midwest and northeast regions, equating to 51,233,225 lbs of CO2 avoided or 508,120,380 lbs of coal not consumed.

Including New Mexico, Pivot Energy now operates in 14 states across the country. Find more information on Pivot Energy’s services and impact at pivotenergy.net.
