National renewable energy provider, Pivot Energy, has committed to investing $70,000 in the Community College of Aurora (CCA), the most diverse college in the State of Colorado. This contribution will support the launch of their renewables career program that will take place in the college's newest building, the Center for STEM, Power Mechanics, and Applied Technologies.
CCA is one of the most diverse institutions in the state of Colorado, empowering the minds and lives of students by providing them with equitable learning environments and ample student support. The college serves as a gateway to higher education and meaningful careers for Aurora and East Denver metropolitan communities.
“The Community College of Aurora is appreciative of Pivot Energy's commitment to supporting our institution“ said CCA President Dr. Mordecai Ian Brownlee. “Investing in our students’ strengths will subsequently enhance and enrich the Colorado workforce, benefitting our students, local employers and the greater Aurora community.”
Pivot Energy is a Certified B-Corporation that proudly follows a corporate strategy aimed at providing a positive impact on society as measured by Environmental stewardship, Social leadership, and responsible Governance (ESG) factors. This contribution to CCA is one of several that Pivot Energy is making since it was selected to build a 41 megawatt (MW) community solar portfolio that will provide 8 to 10 thousand income-qualified households with affordable, clean energy. Thanks to this solar project and the investment, CCA will be better able to nurture the future workforce that the Colorado community both needs and deserves.
“This generous grant will help bolster our efforts to empower students and provide them with opportunities for economic mobility,” said John Wolfkill, Executive Director of the CCA Foundation. “CCA strives to provide options for our students to pursue credentials that will open the door to new, rewarding career paths.“
“As a certified B-Corporation, Pivot strives to support the communities we work in with more than just clean energy,” said Annie Lappé, Vice President of Policy and Impact at Pivot Energy. “Partnering with CCA enables us to create new opportunities for its students in southern Colorado to explore careers in renewable energy.”
Pivot Energy has worked with several academic scholarships and training programs, developing a track record of supporting educational advancement and career exploration in the clean energy sector. They also partnered with Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation, a Colorado-based nonprofit dedicated to providing educational scholarships for students from all walks of life.
